AW series: High temperature weldable strain gauges
The AW series weldable strain gauges have strain sensing elements that are fully encapsulated in corrosion-resistant tubes made of stainless steel or Inconel. The backing materials are constructed from the same materials. These gauges are installed to metal specimen using a spot welder. Unlike adhesive-bonding strain gauges, the sensitive elements of these gauges sit at some distance above the surface of the test specimens. Therefore, users need to consider the change in the sensitivity due to torsion or bending as they are different to the conventional gauges. The AW series weldable strain gauges are available in quarter and full bridge configuration and is capable of operating at maximum temperature of 800oC. They are suitable for strain measurement at harsh environment such as in extremely high temperature, underwater or gas-filled atmosphere for a long period of time.
