DL POWELAB – Power Electronics Laboratory for 30 Students

The DL POWELAB is a power electronics lab from De Lorenzo for teaching power converters and motor drives to a class of 30 students. It is built around five training stations that cover AC-DC, AC-AC, DC-DC and DC-AC conversion and motor drives, plus a professor station. Students work with the power devices used in industry: diodes, SCRs, TRIACs, MOSFETs and IGBTs. Each device type suits a different kind of input and output power. This power electronics laboratory for 30 students includes 134 practical experiences, 140 hours of theoretical lessons and 70 hours of practical lessons. The experiences are spread across the stations: 39 on AC-DC conversion, 31 on AC-AC conversion, 15 on DC-DC conversion, 11 on DC-AC conversion and 38 on motor drives. The professor station is the DL PELTOT, which covers all five areas on one system. The laboratory also includes a professor desk, chair, computer, printer and interactive whiteboard, and 30 student stools. The laboratory suits courses in electronics engineering, electrical and electronics engineering and mechatronics engineering. It also suits training for electronics technicians and power electronics control engineers. The laboratory proposal can be adjusted to fit the needs of the institution.
