The DL POWENGLAB is a power engineering laboratory from De Lorenzo for teaching how electrical energy is generated, transmitted, distributed and protected. It is a laboratory for 30 students, built from benches that reproduce scaled-down sections of a complete electrical system using industrial-grade equipment. An integrated SCADA platform gives real-time monitoring and control, and its software lets teachers create and customise experiments.
The laboratory is organised into three areas. Power generation covers an alternator with parallel operation, and generation protection. Distribution covers transmission lines, transmission line protection, distance protection and bus bars. Protection and management covers current and voltage transformers, protection relays, high-voltage line protection, transformer protection and energy management. Across the three areas, the laboratory includes 86 practical experiences, 90 hours of theoretical lessons and 43 hours of practical lessons. The pathway starts with the basics of electrical engineering and moves on to advanced network simulations.
This power engineering training laboratory for electrical engineering courses also suits power electronics and mechatronics engineering. It supports training for electrical technicians, industrial maintenance technicians and energy and power systems managers. The laboratory proposal can be adjusted to fit the needs of the institution. Bestech Australia supplies the DL POWENGLAB with on-site training and commissioning support available.
