Fill level measurement

Controlling the levels of silo stock is an important aspect of every production process. It’s imperative that no matter what material is used, the available quantity of storage must be monitored, otherwise, you’ll be unable to produce at peak efficiency and run the risk of incurring production downtime due to missing material. With laser distance sensors from Micro-Epsilon, you no longer have to worry about unknowingly running out of material as it will help you to automatically detect the levels of the storage silos. 

For precise measurements, three optoNCDT ILR2250-100 sensors are used in silo level monitoring. These sensors are mounted on top of the silo to measure the distance between the sensor and bulk material. When the quantity of material is reduced, it results in increasing the distance and thus helps to detect the true quantity of the granulate. For analysis, these measured values are sent as output to the control system via the RS422 interface. Thus, these laser sensors can help to avoid problems with production and logistics caused due to a lack of granulate, as well as financial losses.
