Recognizing color nuances and materials of screw nuts

In the fast-paced manufacturing industry, many products are designed with innovative features. During the production, not only basic colors should be recognized, but should also distinguish between nuances in coatings and metal finishes. The colorSENSOR CFO sensor from Micro-Epsilon can detect those colors — an action essential for effective production and quality control.

Due to high repeatability, these sensors are well-suited for the color detection process. Along with the controller, a CFS3-A11 reflex sensor is also used. This reflex sensor helps to measure the front faces of each nut and to perform the internal evaluation. This color detection system operates even for strongly fluctuating shades of front faces and stores the data to the identical color group. Up to 320 colors can be taught in 254 shade groups. One can rely on these sensors for sound recognition of shiny metallic surfaces and different materials.
