Position monitoring in hardening ovens

When it comes to critical production processes, even the smallest component must be flawless. That’s why Micro-Epsilon offers laser sensors that fulfill the requirements of position monitoring. The optoNCDT ILR 1182 Laser Distance Sensors monitor the position of moving components on each hardening oven – if a deviation in position occurs, an adjustment is made automatically via roller blocks. Thus, in addition to monitoring the position of components, the optoNCDT ILR 1182 sensors manage roller block repositioning too.

Moreover, Micro-Epsilon’s measurement technology ensures homogenous hardening of all the components leading to quality results. The system design incorporates two optoNCDT ILR 1182 sensors that determine the x-axis and z-axis positions. The sensors take measurements through two windows onto the component, which is approximately 1.5m away from them. With a measuring range of up to 150m, ILR118x laser sensors offer high repeatability and resolution for precise position control. Yet, in this application, the measuring range is around 80 – 100mm.
