A 180-degree peel test is commonly used to assess the seal strength of medical blister packaging, such as syringe packs, to ensure they meet quality and safety standards like ASTM F88 and JIS Z0238. Using a CS1100 motorized force tester and self-tightening wedge grips, this test measures the peak force required to peel the lidding from the blister card. The proper grip selection is crucial to avoid slippage or premature specimen failure, which can lead to inaccurate results.

The test typically follows four key zones:

• Zone 1: Initial pull until force begins to rise
• Zone 2: Maximum adhesion area and peak force
• Zone 3: Tapered adhesion with decreasing force
• Zone 4: Final pull to complete the 1.5” travel
