Position control of crane systems

A crane system has to be reliable and precise for it to be effective. From industrial production facilities to warehouses, effectively controlling the crane has only one goal: ensuring the fastest, safest, and most efficient material flow to meet individual needs. Micro-Epsilon laser distance sensors are used to give the machine an accurate read on distances. Precisely, two optoNCDT ILR2250-100 sensors are used. One sensor is used to monitor the distance to the main girder between 0.1 and 100 m in the x-direction, another sensor continually measures the movements of the trolley from 0.1 to 25 m in the y-direction.

Through an integrated serial interface, the measured values are transmitted to the control system of the crane. Be it for long or short ranges, these high-performance laser sensors by Micro-Epsilon are the ones to choose from, with a range of up to 150m. Their compact and durable design is ideal for a wide range of distances and applications, even on dark surfaces. optoNCDT ILR2250-100 laser sensors are not just accurate but robust too, so you can rely on them for exact position control.
