Gap and flushness measurement of car bodywork parts
During car manufacturing, it is important to give an utmost importance to design along with technical aspects for ensuring customer satisfaction. Hence, certain minor flaws such as different gap sizes on both sides of a bonnet and a door that doesn’t close flush cannot be overlooked. To measure gap, the conventional method of using manual feeler gauges is no longer a preferred approach, since it is time-consuming, costly and more prone to human-errors. To fulfil this requirement, special purpose sensors based on unique software algorithms are introduced.
Gap monitoring in car interiors
The interior of a car is the first thing a customer observes in a car and it plays a major role in the sale. Hence, even a minor fault can impact the decision of the customer who shows interest in the purchase. These faults revolve around the width and height of a gap and the gap between the single cockpit elements such as the centre console or door trim. Therefore, these gaps should be carefully measured and monitored for quality control.
Inline burr measurement on sheet edges in car body manufacturing
In car manufacturing process, due to punching and cutting at the edges of raw material sheets, burrs are likely to be formed which may hamper the process of applying corrosion protection layer by reducing the thickness of the layer. Such areas may corrode over time, making the automobile less efficient and thereby damaging it. Therefore, it is necessary that the thickness of these burrs are identified before even beginning the painting process.
Colour and intensity tests of car lights
The color and intensity of car lights must be inspected at the end of production of car lights to ensure that there is a homogeneous distribution of light with fluctuating LED batches. To perform this color inspection, special color sensors are used in which an optical fibre tests different points simultaneously to inspect all the LEDs.
Laser profile scanner for cockpit assembly in cars
During the automotive production process, assembly of cockpit modules requires very precise position of assembly parts. To do this, the gripper tool is used to dock with the cockpit on the vehicle chassis on both sides. Then, a profile measurement is performed by a laser profile scanner measure the current position of the module in the Y- and Z-axes in the vehicle coordinate system. With the help of the measured values, a comparison of the measured values and the preset values is done to determine whether cockpit has been positioned correctly.
